On a Sunday evening, February 20, 2022, Adau Galuak Duop, a 25-year-old Black woman, was returning home from a grocery store trip with her family in Portland, Oregon. She was in the passenger seat of their vehicle, her fiancé was driving, and their two young sons, ages one and five, were in the back. Shortly after 10:30 p.m., as they were near the intersection of Southeast 128th Avenue and Southeast Foster Road, another car pulled alongside theirs and an occupant opened fire.
