On the night of March 1, 2021, a burst of gunfire in Portland, Oregon's Cully neighborhood shattered the evening quiet and tragically ended two young lives. Twenty-one-year-old Hispanic female, Jennifer Garcia, was caught in the violence that erupted near Northeast Alberta Street and 52nd Avenue. When police responded to reports of shots fired at approximately 10:19 p.m., they arrived to find a grim scene. Garcia was discovered at the location and pronounced dead from a gunshot wound.
