On June 25, 1980, Vicki Durian, 26, and Nancy Santomero were brutally murdered while hitchhiking to the Rainbow Family Gathering in Pocahontas County, West Virginia. The Rainbow Family Gathering, an annual event celebrating peace, harmony, and freedom, was being held in the area, and the two women were en route to this event when their lives were tragically cut short.
