In the winter of 2017, the life of Brandon Lee Taylor, a 28-year-old African American man, was tragically cut short in Huntington, West Virginia. On January 24th, Taylor was fatally shot inside a residence located in the 2700 block of 9th Avenue. Another man, Royaire Elterro Deray Churchill, who was 24 at the time, was also shot and wounded in the incident but survived his injuries.

The investigation into the shooting led authorities to identify a suspect, Kelly Lee “Shanks” Powell Jr ...
