In the early morning hours of December 27, 2020, 31-year-old Elijah Lemont Hunt was fatally shot near the intersection of Dane and Iowa streets in Waterloo, Iowa. The incident occurred around 4:30 AM, and Hunt succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter. Hunt, originally from Bolingbrook, Illinois, was a former Wartburg College basketball player who had resided in Waverly and Waterloo.
