In the quiet hours of a Saturday morning in Salt Lake City, on January 24, 2015, the life of Christian McDonald, a 24-year-old Caucasian male, was tragically cut short. A passing motorist discovered him lying wounded in the park strip alongside the street at 1224 E. Parkway Avenue. Medical personnel rushed to the scene and transported him to a nearby hospital, but his injuries, the result of a gunshot wound, proved fatal.
Christian, who was born on May 1, 1990, was remembered by loved
ones for his larger-than-life personality and goofy smile. His unexpected death left a profound void in the lives of his extensive family, which included his father, girlfriend, ten sisters, and four brothers. He was mourned as both a "little" brother and a big brother, a cherished figure within his large and close-knit family. His family and friends gathered to say their final goodbyes and celebrate his life on Sunday, February 8, 2015, at Valley View Funeral Home in West Valley City.
The investigation into Christian's death led the Salt Lake City Police Department to identify a suspect in the homicide case. Investigators determined that 36-year-old Eric Burwell was a suspect, and he was considered armed and dangerous. In May 2015, the Salt Lake City Police Department announced that Eric Burwell had been arrested in connection with Christian McDonald's death.
