In the quiet, rural landscape of Fruitland, Utah, a grim discovery was made at a family vacation home, bringing a frantic search for a missing couple to a tragic end. Milinda Wright, a 36-year-old Caucasian woman, and her husband were found deceased on April 11, 2015, after family members grew concerned and reported them missing. The couple had not been heard from for several days, prompting a welfare check by the Duchesne County Sheriff's Office.
Upon entering the residence, deputies uncovered a heartbreaking scene. Milinda was found in the kitchen, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound. Her husband, 45-year-old Gordon James "Jimmy" Wright, was discovered in the living room with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A 9mm handgun was located near his body, leading investigators to believe he had shot his wife before taking his own life.
The investigation conducted by the Duchesne County Sheriff's Office concluded that the incident was a murder-suicide. Authorities stated they had no reason to believe there was any outside threat and did not seek any other suspects in connection with the deaths. Consequently, no arrests were made. While a clear motive for the tragedy remained elusive, investigators noted the presence of alcohol inside the home and did not believe the event was premeditated, as no suicide note was found.
The couple, who resided in Lehi, had been married since July of the previous year. Milinda was a mother to children from a prior relationship, though she and Gordon had no children together.
