In the early morning hours of May 7, 2022, the life of 37-year-old Ryan Allen was brought to a tragic and violent end in his St. George, Utah, home. A call to dispatch at 7:29 a.m. from a man identifying himself as KC Comer reported that he had just shot someone. Police arrived at the residence in the 800 block of Dixie Drive to find a chaotic scene. Inside, they discovered Ryan Allen deceased in the master bathroom, having sustained what appeared to be multiple traumatic injuries from gunfire.
Numerous spent bullet casings littered the area near his body.
The man who had called the police, 30-year-old KC Comer, and his wife were detained at the scene. It was revealed that Allen had been living with the couple in their home. Following his arrest, Comer provided a statement to the police. He claimed that he believed he heard his wife and Allen arguing in the bathroom and thought that Allen, who he believed to be suicidal, was armed. According to the probable cause statement, Comer retrieved his own handgun, ensuring it was loaded, with the intention of killing Allen. He then walked into the bathroom and fired his weapon repeatedly at Allen until he stopped moving.
KC Comer was subsequently arrested and charged with murder, a first-degree felony, as well as possession of a deadly weapon with intent to assault and discharge of firearms. It was also noted that Comer was on probation at the time of the fatal shooting. His bail was set at $1 million. Ryan Allen, a father of two young children, was remembered by loved ones as an amazing son, father, brother, and friend with a contagious and bright smile who touched the lives of those around him. His family expressed their devastation and shock at his sudden and violent death.
