In the quiet industrial area of Springville, Utah, on October 8, 2022, a grim discovery was made that would unravel a story of violence. Fifty-six-year-old Bobby Pool, a White male, was found deceased in the driver's seat of his van. Initially, the circumstances surrounding his death were shrouded in mystery, prompting police to label it as "suspicious" and appeal to the public for any information that could shed light on the final moments of his life.
Responding to a 911 call, officers
arrived at the scene near 1851 N. Parkway Court to find Pool inside his vehicle. An initial examination revealed a bullet hole in his left temple. The absence of a firearm or a casing in the van immediately suggested that his death was not self-inflicted, deepening the mystery for investigators. The scene was carefully processed for any evidence that might point to who was responsible for this violent act.
The investigation led authorities to Chase Micheal Caimi, then 32, who was the individual who had placed the 911 call. As the investigation progressed, Caimi became the primary suspect. It was revealed that on the night of the incident, Caimi and a female companion had been drinking heavily. According to the woman's later testimony, Caimi had stated his intention to shoot Pool. He then approached the victim's van, and when Pool opened the door, Caimi fired twice, striking him once in the temple.
In January 2024, Chase Micheal Caimi was charged with murder and obstruction of justice in connection with Bobby Pool's death. He was later arrested in Colorado on a federal warrant. In September 2024, Caimi pleaded guilty to the charges of murder, obstruction of justice, and witness tampering. For his crimes, he was sentenced to a term of three to 25 years in prison for the murder, with consecutive sentences for the other charges, resulting in a total sentence of four to 45 years. During the sentencing, Pool's daughter spoke of the profound loss her family endured, describing her father as a cherished grandfather who had medical issues and would not have been able to defend himself.
