On February 23, 2006, at approximately 12:44 a.m., 19-year-old Sara Leanne Palenza of East Hartford, Connecticut, was fatally shot while riding as a front-seat passenger in a vehicle driven by Dementrius Nave. The incident occurred near the intersection of Albany Avenue and Garden Street in Hartford. As the vehicle proceeded through the area, an unidentified assailant fired seven shots from a .45 caliber handgun into the car.
