In the spring of 2012, the life of a young woman from East Hartford, Connecticut, was tragically cut short. Krisann Pouliot, a 28-year-old Caucasian female, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2012. Her sudden death left her family, including her parents and brother, in profound grief. The circumstances of her passing, however, quickly turned from a personal tragedy into a criminal investigation.
It was soon revealed that Krisann had been fatally shot in the neck in the home she shared with her mother and her 26-year-old boyfriend, Edwin Leon. Shortly after the discovery of her body, Leon was apprehended by police at another location nearby. He was swiftly charged with a number of serious offenses, including murder, reckless endangerment, criminal use of a firearm, and unlawful restraint. Authorities held him on a one million dollar bond as the legal process began to unfold.
Ultimately, Edwin Leon faced a jury trial for his role in Krisann's death. While he was acquitted of the primary charge of murder, the jury found him guilty of manslaughter in the first degree with a firearm. He was also convicted of carrying a revolver without a permit. For these crimes, the court imposed a total effective sentence of thirty-one years of imprisonment, bringing a measure of closure to a case that began with a sudden and violent loss.
