In the spring of 2014, the life of 47-year-old Bienvenido Tosado, a White/Caucasian male, was tragically cut short in a motel room in Manchester, Connecticut. On March 25, 2014, Tosado, who was also known as "Peter," was discovered beaten to death inside his rented room at the Manchester Inn. The grim discovery launched a police investigation into the brutal killing.
The investigation soon led to two individuals who were known to Tosado, indicating that the attack was not a random act of
violence. Lorenzo Hernandez, who was 22 years old at the time, was identified as a primary suspect. Authorities charged him with first-degree assault and first-degree burglary. The legal proceedings against Hernandez concluded with him pleading guilty to first-degree manslaughter and third-degree burglary. In October of 2015, a judge sentenced him to 18 years in prison for his role in Tosado's death.
A second man, 39-year-old Benjamin Thibodeau, was also implicated in the crime. While it was determined that Thibodeau was present in the motel room during the fatal beating, he did not actively participate in the assault. However, he did take steps to hide evidence of the crime. Thibodeau was initially charged with felony murder, accessory to murder, and first-degree burglary. He later reached a plea agreement, pleading guilty to the lesser charge of second-degree hindering prosecution. In December 2015, Thibodeau was sentenced to five and a half years in prison, which was to be followed by four and a half years of special parole. During his sentencing, he offered an apology to Bienvenido Tosado's family.
