Death by Force

Denzel Thornton, a 25-year-old Chicago Public Schools (CPS) employee, was fatally shot on June 16, 2016, outside McNair Elementary School in the South Austin neighborhood. Thornton, who worked in CPS's Nutrition Services, was shot in the head around 12:30 p.m. as he was getting into his parked car. The shooter fled the scene in a black sedan, and Thornton was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
