On a cold December evening in New Haven, Connecticut, Samuel Hooks, a 44-year-old Black / African American male, was fatally shot, marking the city's tenth homicide of 2018. The incident occurred shortly before 7 p.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2018, on Dorman Street.
Police were alerted to the sound of gunfire by the city's ShotSpotter system. Upon their arrival, they found that Hooks had already been transported to Yale New Haven Hospital.
