In the late hours of a summer evening in New Haven, Connecticut, the life of Troy Clark, a 46-year-old Black / African American male, was tragically cut short. On August 12, 2019, near the intersection of Dixwell Avenue and Henry Street, Clark was fatally shot. The incident also led to the shooting of an off-duty police captain who witnessed the event and attempted to intervene.
An immediate and widespread manhunt for the gunman ensued, involving local, state, and federal authorities.
For two years, the case remained a focal point of investigation for the New Haven Police Department. During this time, the community grappled with the violence that had claimed a life and endangered a respected police officer. The slain man, Troy Clark, was a resident of West Haven.
A significant breakthrough in the investigation came in August 2021 when police announced they had secured an arrest warrant. Albert Eaddy, a 59-year-old New Haven resident, was charged with murder, felony murder, first-degree assault, two counts of first-degree robbery, and criminal possession of a firearm in connection with the death of Troy Clark and the shooting of the police captain. The arrest brought a measure of closure to Clark's family, who remembered him as a protective and loving individual.
