In the early morning hours of June 6, 2021, the life of 38-year-old Jonquay Terrell Morrison, a Black/African American male from Hamden, Connecticut, was tragically cut short. At approximately 3:15 a.m., Hamden police officers were already in the area of Dixwell Avenue investigating an unrelated shooting when they heard the sound of multiple gunshots nearby on Hamden Park Drive. Rushing to the scene, they discovered Morrison lying in the road, having sustained numerous gunshot wounds.
