Murdered

On March 18, 1988, 23-year-old Deputy Sheriff Wayne Martin Bryant Jr. of the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office in Little Rock, Arkansas, was fatally shot while responding to a disturbance call. As Deputy Bryant and his partner approached the residence in question, the suspect opened fire without warning, striking Deputy Bryant. Despite sustaining mortal injuries, Deputy Bryant managed to return fire, fatally wounding the assailant.
