On a tragic evening in Little Rock, Arkansas, the life of 10-year-old Malak Hussian was brutally cut short. On June 4, 1995, Malak, along with her siblings, 12-year-old Mustafa Hussian and 17-year-old Marcell Young, were murdered in their home. The horrific event unfolded when a group of individuals, intent on retribution, forced their way into the family's residence.
The assailants were led by Riley Dobi Noel, then 23, who believed that another of the victims' sisters had been involved
in the death of his brother. Fueled by drugs and a desire for revenge, Noel, accompanied by Terry Carroll, Curtis Cochran, and Tracy Calloway, descended upon the Hussian home. Inside, they forced the three children to lie face down on the living room floor. It was then that Noel methodically executed each child with a gunshot to the head.
While the horrific scene unfolded in the living room, the children's mother, Mary Hussian, fought for her own life in another part of the house. Terry Carroll attempted to shoot her with a shotgun, but in a desperate struggle, she managed to wrestle the weapon away from him, narrowly escaping the same fate as her children. Her courageous act, however, could not save her beloved children.
The investigation into the triple homicide moved swiftly, leading to the apprehension of all four individuals involved. Riley Dobi Noel was charged with three counts of capital murder and one count of attempted capital murder. He was subsequently convicted and sentenced to death, a sentence that was carried out on July 9, 2003. His accomplices also faced justice for their roles in the heinous crime. Terry Carroll, Curtis Cochran, and Tracy Calloway were all arrested and received lengthy prison sentences for their involvement in the murders. In the years that followed, Mary Hussian publicly forgave one of the individuals involved in the murder of her children, a profound act in the face of such a devastating loss.
