In the quiet town of Jonesboro, Arkansas, a tragic event unfolded that would forever leave its mark on the community. On March 24, 1998, 11-year-old Brittheny Ryen Varner-Wilson was a student at Westside Middle School, going about her day like any other. That normalcy was shattered when two fellow students, 13-year-old Mitchell Johnson and 11-year-old Andrew Golden, triggered a fire alarm and then opened fire on their classmates and teachers as they evacuated the building.
