On a late September evening in 2010, the life of 19-year-old Kor’Darius Doodle Walker was tragically cut short in Forrest City, Arkansas. The young Black/African American male died on September 25, 2010, a victim of gun violence. His death was part of a violent weekend in the city that left another man dead and prompted a thorough investigation by local law enforcement.
In the days that followed the shooting, the Forrest City Police Department worked to piece together the events that
led to Walker's death. Their investigation quickly pointed to a suspect, and a warrant was issued for the arrest of 20-year-old De’atrick Gamble in connection with the murder. As the search for Gamble intensified, authorities also explored the possibility that Walker's death was connected to another homicide that occurred that same weekend, suggesting a potential link between the two violent acts.
The search for the primary suspect came to a close when De’atrick Gamble, accompanied by a family member, surrendered to the St. Francis County Sheriff’s Department. He was taken into custody without incident and subsequently charged with first-degree murder for his alleged role in the death of Kor’Darius Walker. Following his arrest, Gamble was held at the St. Francis County Jail as the legal proceedings against him began. The community was left to mourn the loss of a young man while the justice system prepared to address the violence that had shaken their city.
