In the quiet town of Malvern, Arkansas, the life of 33-year-old Jason 'Snowman' Stovall was abruptly ended on the evening of February 16, 2015. Stovall was shot and killed in his home on the 1400 block of Locust Street in what authorities described as a home invasion. At the time of the incident, his girlfriend was also shot and injured, while her children were in an adjacent room and were physically unharmed. The eldest of the children, a seven-year-old girl, was the one to call 911 and report the tragic events that had unfolded.
The investigation into Stovall's murder led to several arrests in the following weeks and months. On March 9, 2015, the Malvern Police Department apprehended 24-year-old Cornell Jasper Huell, charging him with capital murder, criminal attempt to commit capital murder, and aggravated residential burglary. Shortly after, on March 19, two more individuals were taken into custody. Crystal Kennedy, 41, and a 16-year-old male were both charged with hindering apprehension or prosecution, a class B felony, in connection to the case.
The pursuit of justice continued, and on May 26, 2015, a 17-year-old was arrested and faced charges of capital murder and criminal attempt to commit capital murder. This teenager had previously been arrested in March on a charge of hindering apprehension or prosecution. The series of arrests brought some measure of resolution to a case that had shaken the local community and left Stovall's family searching for answers. Stovall, who was known for his passion for music and his work fundraising for the Arkansas State Police, was remembered by his family as a father who did not deserve such a violent end.
