On a tragic day in Batesville, Arkansas, a 33-year-old Caucasian woman named Sarah Lindsey lost her life. She was at her job at the Tobacco Warehouse on Harrison Street on December 1, 2015, when her ex-husband, 38-year-old Christopher Dwayne Lyons, came into the store. After a brief conversation, he left, only to come back a short time later with a handgun.
He then shot Sarah multiple times before fleeing the scene.
A customer who came into the store found Sarah behind the counter with several gunshot wounds and immediately called for help. Sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The Batesville Police Department quickly identified Christopher Dwayne Lyons as the main suspect in the shooting. Thanks to information from the public, the police were able to locate and arrest him within about 50 minutes of the incident.
A witness told police that Lyons had admitted to shooting his ex-wife, saying that he 'got mad and just lost it.' After his arrest, Lyons was charged with capital murder and was held on a one million dollar bond. The community was shocked and saddened by the loss of Sarah, who was remembered as a polite and friendly person. She was a mother to four children from a previous marriage.
