On a Wednesday evening in Little Rock, Arkansas, the cool air of November 2, 2016, was shattered by the sound of gunfire. At approximately 10:45 p.m. on Bragg Street, several people were gathered in a yard when shots were fired from a hidden position. The ambush left five individuals wounded, three women and two men. Among the injured was a 38-year-old male, Frederick Nathaniel Duhart Jr.
Initially, the injuries sustained by the victims were not believed to be life-threatening.
For over two weeks, Duhart fought for his life at UAMS Medical Center. However, on November 20, 2016, he succumbed to his injuries, marking the 35th homicide in Little Rock that year. The shooting that had initially been a violent assault had now become a murder investigation. Detectives with the Little Rock Police Department began to piece together the events of that night.
A breakthrough in the case came when one of the surviving victims was able to identify the individuals responsible for the shooting. This crucial information led investigators to 25-year-old Linquinton Dean and 24-year-old Darius Gulley. On November 28, 2016, both men were apprehended at Dean's home on Verbena Drive. They were subsequently charged with capital murder for the death of Frederick Nathaniel Duhart Jr. and four counts of first-degree battery for the injuries sustained by the other four victims.
