In the autumn of 2016, a hunting trip near Bentonville, Arkansas took a tragic turn, resulting in the death of 54-year-old Jeffery Millstead, a male visitor from DeRidder, Louisiana. On November 16th, while in the woods in the vicinity of Punkin Hollow and Miller Church roads, Millstead was fatally wounded. He was in the company of a hunting companion at the time of the incident.
According to reports from the Benton County Sheriff's Office, Millstead was struck by a bullet that was
accidentally discharged from his companion's rifle. The companion, identified as Jimmy Paul Box, had been using the firearm to clear a path. An investigation into the shooting was conducted by local authorities.
The preliminary findings of the investigation suggested that the shooting was unintentional. Based on the available information, there were no arrests made in connection with the death of Jeffery Millstead, and no charges were filed against his hunting companion.
