In May of 2017, in the town of Searcy, Arkansas, a welfare check led to a grim discovery. On May 20th, police were dispatched to a trailer on East Moore Avenue. Inside, they found the body of 38-year-old Brian Pool, a White male, who had been fatally shot. The quiet community was shaken by the news of the violent death of one of its own.
As the investigation into the death of Brian Pool began, authorities quickly identified a person of interest.
Law enforcement began searching for 41-year-old Shelby Taylor of Pangburn. The day after the discovery of Pool's body, on the evening of May 21, 2017, Taylor turned himself in to the police, bringing a swift development to the case.
Following his surrender, Shelby Taylor was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Brian Pool. An additional charge of possession of a firearm by certain persons was also brought against him. Taylor was subsequently held without bond at the White County Law Enforcement Center. While an arrest was made, the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting and the relationship between the two men remained unclear as authorities did not publicly disclose a motive.
