In the quiet town of Wilmar, Arkansas, a late-night visit turned deadly for 20-year-old Christon Laron Sheets. On November 14, 2017, the Drew County Sheriff's Department was alerted to an armed robbery and shooting at a local residence. Upon their arrival, they discovered that Christon had been shot twice in the torso. He was rushed to Drew Memorial Hospital, but tragically, he was pronounced dead.
The young man, who had just celebrated his twentieth birthday the day before, became the victim of a homicide that would soon lead to a manhunt for his killers.
Investigators quickly determined that two male visitors were at Sheets' home when the shooting occurred. For reasons that remain part of the ongoing investigation, one of the men is believed to have opened fire, fatally wounding Christon before both fled the scene. The Drew County Sheriff's Department launched a homicide investigation, identifying two suspects: Jarrell Terry and 24-year-old Dominze K. Figures of McGehee.
Within days, the investigation led to the apprehension of both suspects. U.S. Marshals in Little Rock assisted in locating and arresting Jarrell Terry. He was transported back to Drew County and formally charged with capital murder and aggravated robbery. Shortly after, Dominze Figures turned himself in to the authorities. He faced the same serious charges of capital murder and aggravated robbery. Both men were taken for a first appearance in court and were ordered to be held without bond as they awaited further legal proceedings in connection with the death of Christon Sheets.
