In the winter of 2018 in Conway, Arkansas, an 18-year-old male named Tyreke Summage lost his life in a burst of gunfire. The incident that led to his death unfolded on the evening of December 27th at the Plaza Pointe apartments. Summage, in the company of two other men, was involved in an altercation where shots were reportedly fired by them towards an apartment occupied by three other individuals.
During the exchange, at least one of the men inside the apartment returned fire, striking
Summage. He was later transported to a local hospital, but the wound proved to be fatal. His death, which occurred on December 27, 2018, set in motion an investigation by the Conway Police Department to piece together the chaotic events of that night.
In the days that followed, authorities identified two suspects connected to the shooting. On January 4, 2019, police arrested brothers Rodrick and Robert Thornton, both 24 years old at the time, at a house in Conway. Investigators believe the Thornton brothers were with Summage and participated in the initial act of firing shots at the apartment. Due to their alleged involvement in a crime that resulted in the death of their accomplice, both brothers were charged with manslaughter, among other offenses. The individual who fired the shot that killed Summage was not immediately charged, as the investigation into the incident continued.
