A simmering feud tragically culminated in the death of 41-year-old Louis Moore on a Saturday night in Forrest City, Arkansas. The male victim was fatally shot outside a convenience store located at the intersection of Cook Avenue and North Division Street. The incident was reportedly the result of an ongoing dispute between Moore's family and the man accused of the shooting, 31-year-old Rashad Green.
The conflict between the two men had its roots in a devastating event that occurred
months prior. Green had been the driver in a car accident that resulted in the death of Moore's sister, Lakisha Moore. The fact that Green did not face significant jail time for Lakisha's death was a source of great anger and pain for her family. While Moore's fiancée acknowledged the family's anger, she disputed the characterization of an 'ongoing feud,' stating that on the night of his death, Moore was simply going to the store to buy candy for his children and a drink for her.
According to police, Green claimed he shot Moore because he believed Moore was reaching for a gun. After the shooting, surveillance footage captured Green running into the convenience store, still holding the gun, and frantically asking employees to call the police. He then attempted to hide in a back room, pacing back and forth with the weapon in his hand until law enforcement arrived, at which point he surrendered.
Following the incident, Rashad Green was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder. He was subsequently held without bond in the St. Francis County Jail. The death of Louis Moore left behind his fiancée and their two children, as well as two other children from a previous relationship. He had also taken on the responsibility of caring for his deceased sister's three children.
