On a Sunday afternoon in Little Rock, Arkansas, what began as a report of a shooting victim at a local hospital unraveled into a double homicide investigation. On April 19, 2020, authorities were alerted to the arrival of 28-year-old Jarvis Washington at Baptist Hospital, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Before his condition deteriorated and he succumbed to his injuries, Washington was able to provide police with a crucial piece of information: the location where the shooting occurred,
the Spanish Jon's Apartments on West 65th Street.
Responding to the address provided by Washington, officers from the Southwest Division arrived at the apartment complex to secure the scene and search for any other potential victims. They found the door to the apartment unlocked but curiously blocked from the inside by a chair. Forcing their way in, they made a grim discovery just inside the doorway. Lying there was the body of 39-year-old Porcha Gibson, a female who had sustained an apparent gunshot wound. A protective sweep of the residence revealed no one else inside.
Homicide detectives were called to the scene, and a search warrant was obtained to process the apartment for evidence. Investigators began working with the apartment management to locate any surveillance footage that might shed light on the events leading to the two deaths. The vehicle that transported Washington to the hospital was also impounded for further examination by the Crime Scene Search Unit.
The bodies of both Porcha Gibson and Jarvis Washington were sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for autopsies to be performed. In the initial stages of the investigation, detectives considered the possibility that the double homicide was the result of a domestic-related incident. The case remains an open and ongoing investigation, and as of now, no suspects have been publicly identified or arrested in connection with the deaths of Porcha Gibson and Jarvis Washington.
