In the late summer of 2020, tragedy struck the community of Blytheville, Arkansas. On the evening of August 16th, Willie Wright, a 52-year-old man, was found lying in the yard of a residence on East Rose Street, suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency services were called to the scene, and Wright was quickly transported to Great River Medical Center for treatment.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The Blytheville Police Department immediately launched a homicide investigation into Wright's death. Their inquiries soon led them to a suspect, Jeremy Reed. An intensive search for Reed was initiated, with law enforcement considering him to be armed and dangerous. The efforts to locate him were successful, and he was taken into custody in connection with the fatal shooting.
Following his arrest, Jeremy Reed faced legal proceedings for the death of Willie Wright. The case moved through the justice system, culminating in a jury trial. After hearing the evidence presented, the jury found Reed guilty of first-degree murder. For his role in the death of Willie Wright, Jeremy Reed was sentenced to 35 years in prison. The conviction also included an enhancement for the use of a firearm in the commission of the crime.
