In the autumn of 2020, the life of Patrick Demond Owens, a 36-year-old Black man from Arkadelphia, Arkansas, was tragically cut short. On November 7, 2020, while visiting a friend's home, Owens was shot in an act of gun violence. He was subsequently hospitalized and later moved to Little Rock Baptist Hospital. His condition was further complicated when he contracted COVID-19 during his hospital stay. After the shooting, Owens never regained consciousness and passed away on December 22, 2020.
