In the autumn of 2020, the life of Patrick Demond Owens, a 36-year-old Black man from Arkadelphia, Arkansas, was tragically cut short. On November 7, 2020, while visiting a friend's home, Owens was shot in an act of gun violence. He was subsequently hospitalized and later moved to Little Rock Baptist Hospital. His condition was further complicated when he contracted COVID-19 during his hospital stay.
After the shooting, Owens never regained consciousness and passed away on December 22, 2020.
Born on April 30, 1984, in Arkadelphia, Patrick was known to his friends as 'PO'. He was a 2002 graduate of Arkadelphia High School and went on to obtain his cosmetology license from Washington Barber College in 2015, becoming a sought-after barber in his community. Remembered as a 'cool, laid-back friend,' he had a passion for the latest trends, music, and sports, particularly enjoying Sunday volleyball games with his family.
Following his unexpected death, his family organized a GoFundMe campaign to assist with funeral expenses. Patrick Demond Owens was laid to rest at Piney Grove Cemetery in Arkadelphia.
