In the autumn of 2021, the life of Juan Di'Giovanni Malone Sr., a 41-year-old male, was abruptly ended in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. On November 17, he was left at the emergency room of Baptist Health Medical Center-Arkadelphia, suffering from a gunshot wound that would ultimately prove fatal. The circumstances of his arrival at the hospital immediately launched a police investigation into his death.
The investigation soon led authorities to the Pine Court Apartments.
It was there, according to police, that Malone had been shot. Investigators learned that the shooting occurred during a drug transaction. An affidavit filed in the case detailed that a struggle took place between Malone and another individual, which culminated in the fatal shot being fired from a handgun.
Within a couple of days, on November 19, the Arkadelphia Police Department, with assistance from the Clark County Sheriff's Office, Group 6 Narcotics Enforcement, Arkansas State Police, and the Dallas County Sheriff's Office, took a suspect into custody. Patrick Turner, 34, of Arkadelphia, was arrested in connection with the shooting. Following the arrest, Turner was formally charged with first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, and possession of a firearm by a certain person, as previous felony convictions made it illegal for him to have a firearm. He was subsequently held at the Clark County Detention Center.
