On a late summer evening in 2021, the life of David Junior Dunn, a 39-year-old White/Caucasian male from Redfield, Arkansas, was tragically cut short. On September 8th, in Pulaski County, just outside of Little Rock, Dunn was driving his red 2001 Ford F-150, distinguished by a 'Dunn Right Lawn Service' sign on the driver's side. He had built his own successful business, Dunn Right Lawn Care, fulfilling a lifelong dream.
Friends and family knew him as a hardworking and honest man, an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish, and someone who was always willing to help a friend in need.
That evening, at approximately 6:30 p.m., in the 2000 block of Ivy Chapel Road, Dunn stopped his truck to speak with a man who was walking along the road. In a sudden and violent turn of events, David Dunn was shot. When Pulaski County Sheriff's Office deputies arrived at the scene, they found him lying in the road with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His truck and an attached black utility trailer were missing, last seen heading eastbound on Ivy Chapel Road.
The investigation quickly led authorities to identify a person of interest: 42-year-old Daryl Jason Scarbrough. Described as a white male with facial tattoos, Scarbrough was already a fugitive from Missouri, wanted for a string of serious crimes including armed robbery and home invasion. He was also known to be a recent parolee from the California State Prison system. A two-day manhunt for Scarbrough ensued.
On September 10, 2021, law enforcement located and apprehended Daryl Scarbrough near Woodson, Arkansas. He was taken into custody on a fugitive warrant out of Pettis County, Missouri, as the investigation into David Dunn's homicide continued. While the stolen truck and trailer were still being sought, an arrest had been made in connection with the senseless act of violence that took the life of a beloved member of the community.
