On a Saturday night in the Cave City area, a 911 call shattered the evening calm, reporting a domestic disturbance at a residence on Grange Road. The caller urgently informed dispatchers that a man and a woman were fighting and then reported the chilling sound of gunshots. This prompted an immediate response from the Sharp County Sheriff's Department, the Cave City Police Department, and Spring River Ambulance, who all rushed to the scene on November 20, 2021.
Upon their arrival at approximately 9:25 p.m., officers made a grim discovery. Inside the home, they found 32-year-old Kelsey Bunch, a female, deceased from an apparent gunshot wound to her head. Alongside her was 34-year-old Jonathan Bunch, also deceased from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The initial investigation led authorities to believe the tragic event was a murder-suicide. Tragically, children were also present at the residence when the authorities arrived.
In the aftermath of the harrowing event, both Kelsey and Jonathan Bunch were sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for autopsies to officially determine the cause and manner of their deaths. The investigation by the Sharp County authorities pointed towards a domestic dispute that escalated to a fatal conclusion, with Jonathan Bunch being the sole suspect in Kelsey's death before taking his own life. Kelsey Elise Gengo, as she was also known, left behind two sons and a daughter.
