In the early morning hours of November 26, 2021, the life of 39-year-old Claude Donell Tatum, a Black male, was cut short by an act of violence in his hometown of Dumas, Arkansas. Responding to a report of gunfire at a residence on South Beech Street at approximately 1:15 a.m., local police officers discovered Tatum inside, suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Claude Tatum succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 2:26 a.m. The fatal shooting is being investigated as a homicide, prompting the Dumas Police Department to request the assistance of the Arkansas State Police's Criminal Investigation Division. State police special agents were dispatched to process the crime scene and aid in the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding Tatum's death.
As the investigation continues, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the shooting. The case remains an active and open homicide investigation as law enforcement officials continue to seek information that may lead to a resolution. Claude Donell Tatum was born in Dumas and was a member of the Faith Pentecostal Church in Mitchellville. He is survived by his parents and a daughter.
