Ronald L. Allen, a 73-year-old Black man, was driving through Chicago's Austin neighborhood before dawn on Friday, December 2, 2016, when gunfire tore into his car along the 1300 block of North Laramie Avenue. He had been heading home to Naperville after a night playing cards with friends, a familiar routine that ended with his vehicle struck by bullets and then colliding with parked cars. First responders could not save him; he was pronounced dead in the early morning hours.
