On November 7, 2024, at approximately 12:15 a.m., 18-year-old Denzell Guzman and 17-year-old Juan Melendez Jr. were fatally shot in the Mount Washington neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. The incident occurred in the 1400 block of Cliff Drive, a known lookout point in the area.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the two teenagers were standing outside a residence when a dark-colored vehicle approached them. An unidentified assailant inside the car fired multiple rounds, striking both victims in the head. First responders arrived promptly and attempted life-saving measures, but both Guzman and Melendez Jr. were pronounced dead at the scene.
The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation. As of now, no suspects have been identified, and no arrests have been made.
