Morshedi was detained in Munich, Germany, as he exited a plane from Mexico. The FBI and German police collaborated to apprehend him, and he was held on a murder warrant.

His vibrant personality and creative spirit inspired many, and his untimely death created an unplanned financial burden for his family, who sought support through a GoFundMe campaign to cover memorial and burial expenses.
The legal proceedings against Morshedi began following his arrest, with charges of murder and carjacking.
