In the early morning of January 14, 2022, the life of 28-year-old Braxton Hale, a Black male, was tragically cut short in Little Rock, Arkansas. Police were called to a residence on Par Drive, located near the Eagle Hill golf course, around 8:47 a.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Hale suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was immediately transported to a local hospital for medical attention.

Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Braxton Hale succumbed to his injuries the following day. At the scene of the shooting, officers encountered Shaylaya Khabeer, who identified herself as Hale's wife. According to reports, Khabeer was found holding two bullets and $300 in cash. She informed the police that the shooting had occurred while she and Hale were upstairs in their home.

Initially, Shaylaya Khabeer was taken into custody and charged with first-degree domestic battery. However, following Hale's death, the charges against her were upgraded to first-degree murder. She was subsequently booked into the Pulaski County jail. The investigation into the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting continued, with Khabeer being the primary individual charged in connection with the incident.
