Daylan Javell Ross, an 18-year-old male, was found deceased on Thursday, March 10, 2022, in Malvern, Arkansas. His body was discovered in a ditch, and it was determined that he had been shot multiple times. Authorities received a call regarding the discovery around midnight. Ross's car was located in a different part of town from where his body was found.
Known to his friends as 'Rossi,' Daylan was remembered for his captivating smile and humble spirit. He was a 2021 graduate of Malvern High School, where he played on the football team as a 'lockdown corner.' His former coach recalled his positive attitude and a time during a close game when Ross confidently reassured him they would win. Friends and family described him as an inspirational person who could brighten anyone's day. Despite losing his mother at the age of ten, he maintained a joyful disposition and was a dedicated older brother. His father described him as having a 'heart of gold.'
In the course of their investigation, the Hot Spring County Sheriff's Department identified 19-year-old Brion Brown of Malvern as the lead suspect in the shooting death of Daylan Ross. After conducting interviews with multiple witnesses and collecting evidence, including video surveillance, authorities obtained a probable cause affidavit, leading to an arrest warrant for Brown.
