On a summer evening in Little Rock, Arkansas, the life of 25-year-old Deandre Jones was tragically cut short. On July 19, 2022, at approximately 10:00 p.m., officers from the Little Rock Police Department were dispatched to the Beacon Hill Apartments at 1801 Reservoir Road following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered Jones suffering from gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services were called to the scene, but his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
As detectives began their investigation at the apartment complex, speaking with witnesses and searching for any available surveillance footage, they were alerted to a second victim. Another individual, later identified as 18-year-old Javyn Luckey, had been transported to Arkansas Children's Hospital with gunshot wounds from the same location. Luckey succumbed to his injuries later that same night, turning a single homicide investigation into a double homicide.
For over a year, the case remained under active investigation. Then, on August 3, 2023, a breakthrough was announced. The Little Rock Police Department arrested 22-year-old Key'Andre Collins in connection with the shootings. Collins was subsequently charged with two counts of terroristic acts and the first-degree murder of Javyn Luckey. However, as of the latest reports, no charges have been filed against Collins or any other individual specifically for the death of Deandre Jones. The investigation into his death remains ongoing as his family and community continue to seek justice.
