In Little Rock, Arkansas, on the evening of November 7, 2022, a sense of unease settled over the area near 1514 W. 31st Street as police responded to reports of an individual with a firearm. The situation tragically escalated when officers discovered 36-year-old Derick Mack, a Black male, near the intersection of 33rd Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, suffering from a gunshot wound.
