On the evening of November 11, 2022, in North Little Rock, Arkansas, a burst of gunfire shattered the ordinary atmosphere of the McCain Mall parking lot. When the North Little Rock Police Department responded to reports of shots fired shortly after 6:30 p.m., they discovered a tragic scene inside a car. Two 17-year-old friends, Marcus Blue and Alex Berry, had been shot. Marcus, a male, was pronounced dead at the scene from his injuries.
His friend, Alex, was rushed to a nearby hospital but ultimately succumbed to his wounds.
The two teenagers were described as being as close as brothers, with Marcus being a significant part of Alex's family. Both young men had aspirations for the future. Marcus had plans to attend college and had a desire to leave Little Rock. He was known for being funny, caring, and the heart of Lisa Academy, where he played basketball. His sudden and violent death left his mother, Roslyn Williams, and Alex's mother, Keysha Moore, heartbroken and searching for answers in a nightmare from which they could not wake.
For nearly a year, the mothers of the two slain teens have been relentless in their pursuit of justice for their sons. The North Little Rock Police Department has maintained that the investigation into the double homicide is active and ongoing, and that they have been looking into leads. Their efforts eventually led to a breakthrough in the case. A suspect, identified as 24-year-old Charles Ware Jr., was wanted for his involvement in the shooting deaths of the two teenagers. He was subsequently arrested in Conway by the U.S. Marshals Service Eastern District of Arkansas Fugitive Task Force.
