On a tragic day in November 2022, the life of 12-year-old Kelsi Marie Thompson was cut short in Forrest City, Arkansas. The young female was found deceased on November 28, 2022, a victim of gun violence.
Authorities discovered Kelsi's body along with two adults, 34-year-old Shalanda Nicole Barton and 31-year-old Jaterrance Wright. All three had been fatally shot.
The grim discovery was made during a welfare check at a residence.
In the subsequent investigation, a suspect was identified and arrested. Jonathan Rolfe, who was 17 at the time, was taken into custody and charged as an adult with three counts of capital murder. The investigation revealed a heart-wrenching connection between the suspect and the victims: Shalanda Barton was Rolfe's mother, and Kelsi Thompson was his younger sister.
The community and the Forrest City School District, where Kelsi was a student, mourned the devastating loss of a young life under such violent and familial circumstances.
