Marion Bartlett, a 57-year-old White male, was killed in Lincoln, Nebraska, on January 21, 1958, when nineteen-year-old Charles Starkweather arrived at the Bartlett home and was told to stay away. Starkweather returned armed and fatally shot Marion and Marion’s wife, Velda; he then killed their two-year-old daughter, Betty Jean.
