In the early hours of May 25, 2024, a violent attack outside a Lincoln, Nebraska gentlemen's club claimed the lives of two men, including 39-year-old Carlos Silva. Mr. Silva, a Hispanic/Latino male, and 40-year-old Terrell Jones were both shot multiple times outside The Office Gentlemen's Club in west Lincoln. The shooting occurred around 2 a.m. Both men were rushed to a local hospital, but they succumbed to their injuries.
Investigators with the Lincoln Police Department reviewed
surveillance footage from the club to piece together the events of that morning. According to police, the video showed two men interacting with Silva and Jones. One of the men, later identified as Christopher Johnson, approached Silva near the building’s entrance. A second man, Darious Fletcher, started talking to Terrell Jones, who was sitting in a vehicle nearby. Police said that moments later, Johnson pulled out a handgun and shot Silva multiple times, causing him to fall back into the building. Johnson then allegedly turned and fired at Jones, who was still inside the vehicle. Authorities stated they believed the attack was premeditated.
Within three days, police announced the arrests of two suspects. On May 28, 2024, Christopher Johnson, 32, was taken into custody in Omaha following a foot pursuit. He was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of use of a firearm to commit a felony. That same day in Lincoln, police arrested 32-year-old Darious Fletcher. Fletcher was charged with two counts of accessory to first-degree murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
In the months that followed, Christopher Johnson's case proceeded through the court system. In July 2024, prosecutors upgraded the first-degree murder charges against him, making him eligible for the death penalty if convicted. Later that year, Johnson's defense attorney requested that all Lancaster County judges recuse themselves from the case, arguing that their familiarity with a court bailiff who was listed as a witness could compromise their impartiality. The request was granted, and in November 2024, the case was reassigned to a judge from a different judicial district.
On March 9, 2026, a jury found Christopher Johnson, then 34, guilty of two counts of first-degree murder and related firearms charges in the deaths of Carlos Silva and Terrell Jones. The verdict made Johnson eligible for the death penalty. As of that month, a panel of judges was set to determine his sentence at a future date. The case against the alleged accomplice, Darious Fletcher, was still pending, with pretrial motions scheduled for mid-March 2026.
