In the early morning hours of June 1, 1998, a sense of loss befell a family in Omaha, Nebraska. Antonio S. Taliaferro, a 17-year-old Black / African American male, was fatally wounded in a shooting. The incident occurred at approximately 4:15 a.m. at 5310 South 30th Street. When Omaha Police Department officers arrived at the scene, they discovered multiple individuals with gunshot wounds.
Antonio was among them and was rushed to a local hospital for treatment.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Antonio succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Remembered as a cherished son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend, his death left a significant void in the lives of those who knew him. He had a passion for basketball, and his mother fondly recalled his beautiful eyes and smile, which brought her immense joy. His untimely passing cut short a young life full of potential.
The investigation into Antonio's death has been ongoing for many years, yet it remains an unsolved case. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and no specific suspects have been publicly identified. The Omaha Police Department continues to seek information from the public that could lead to a breakthrough in the case. A substantial reward has been offered for any information that results in the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for his death.
