In the summer of 1975, a young Phoenix police officer named Gilbert Richard Chavez, a 22-year-old male, responded to what he believed was a routine burglary call, a decision that would tragically end his life. On June 16, he and his partner were dispatched to a radiator business after an anonymous tip reported a burglary in progress. The officers entered the business and confronted two juvenile suspects.
