On a Sunday morning in June of 2008, the life of a dedicated officer, a White male named Erik David Hite, 43, was tragically cut short in a violent ambush. The events that led to his death began to unfold when a man opened fire on the homes of his neighbors. A Pima County Sheriff's deputy was the first to respond to the scene and was met with gunfire from the suspect, sustaining a wound. The gunman then fled, sparking a frantic pursuit across Tucson, Arizona.
