In the summer of 2011, a tragic event unfolded in a quiet Prescott, Arizona neighborhood, ending the life of 59-year-old Lara Vondran-Dagle. On August 20th, a roommate discovered the bodies of Vondran-Dagle and her estranged husband, 62-year-old Ned Dagle, inside their home on Mountain Lake Road. Both had sustained fatal gunshot wounds in what police would later determine to be a murder-suicide.
Investigators pieced together the sequence of events, concluding that Ned Dagle shot and
killed his wife before turning the gun on himself. Neighbors recalled hearing what they thought were gunshots in the early morning hours, a chilling premonition of the violence that had occurred. The couple had been married for approximately five years but had been separated for about four months and were in the process of divorcing.
The incident was not the first time police had been called to the residence. Records indicated a prior investigation into a domestic violence incident at the same address in December 2009. This history of domestic trouble cast a dark shadow over the final, fatal confrontation, leaving a community to mourn the loss of a woman whose life was cut short by a tragic act of violence. No arrests were made as the sole suspect was also deceased at the scene.
